The code contains exactly what you type, with no redirects through anyone’s servers, so it always works and never expires.

QR codes that never expire
Many generators make “dynamic” codes: the code points to their server, which redirects onwards and stops working after a trial. Here the code holds your link or text directly, so it works for as long as the link does.
Payment codes
“SEPA transfer” makes an EPC code (also called GiroCode) that many banking apps in the euro area read, filling in the recipient, IBAN, amount and reference. “Polish bank transfer” makes the code Polish banking apps use for payments in złoty. The IBAN or account number is checked for typos using its check digits.
PNG or SVG?
PNG is fine for a web page or a document. SVG is a vector graphic: print it at any size, from a business card to a banner, without losing sharpness. In print, make the code at least 2 × 2 cm with a light border around it.
Colours
A code can use a brand colour, but it has to be clearly darker than the background. The generator warns you when the contrast is too low or the code is lighter than the background, as many phones can’t read those.
Wi-Fi codes
When scanned, a phone offers to join the network without typing the password. The password is stored in the code itself, so only put it up where you want to share the network.
Common questions
Is a payment code safe?
The code only fills in the transfer form. The payer sees the account, recipient and amount before confirming the payment themselves. Nobody can take money through a scan.
Can I use the codes commercially?
Yes, without limits or attribution. “QR Code” is a trademark of DENSO WAVE.
Is what I type stored anywhere?
No. The code is made in your browser. Account numbers, the Wi-Fi password, contact details and messages don’t even go into the page address.
